Dennis became a Christian during the final year of an Engineering degree at Melbourne University; Nolene when she was 15 at a Billy Graham Crusade. Prior to launching Kingston City Church in 1976, Dennis was a lecturer in Civil Engineering at the Gordon Institute of Technology (now Deakin University) in Geelong, Victoria. Nolene completed a Music Degree at Melbourne University, majoring in singing. Her early life centred on singing and she studied further in England. She has sung as a soloist on ABC Radio, and with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. They both attended Crusade Bible College (now Tabor Bible College) in Adelaide in 1972 and 1973 under Leo Harris and Dr Barry Chant. After publishing over 1000 songs over several decades, Dennis developed a passion to see sound theology in song lyrics and released a book on the subject: “Worship is a Bowl of Noodles, or What Would Jesus Sing?” Nolene has written many songs, one of which, “Holy is the Lord of Hosts”, has been sung around the world and been translated into many languages. (Read this amazing story below, or checkout this YouTube clip.) She has conducted choirs for recordings and other events and is a passionate worship leader. They worked together on their bestselling book “Nine Days in Heaven – a true story”, putting the difficult old-fashioned English of the original (“Scenes Beyond the Grave”) into modern language. It has sold more than 80,000 copies in Australia, the United States and around the world. In 2012 Dennis published a one-off newspaper “The Regal Standard” as a response to a Global Atheist Convention in Melbourne. With testimonies by eminent scientists (formerly atheists), miracle stories and other answers to common questions, more than 80,000 copies were sold and distributed. The contents were later expanded and published as a book "I Was Wrong: Why the World’s Most Notorious Atheist Called It Quits and Other Trouble for the New Atheism".
